Abstract
Preeclampsia is defined as hypertension in pregnancy, which can cause maternal and fetal complications. One of the complications of perinatal outcomes is low birth weight (LBW). The degree of proteinuria describes the severity of organ disorders in preeclampsia. Therefore, proteinuria can be used as a predictor of LBW. This study aims to determine the relationship between the degree of proteinuria in preeclamptic mothers and the incidence of LBW. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. Sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. A total of 36 preeclamptic mothers who gave birth at RSU Karsa Husada Batu in 2021 were included in this research. The chi-square test results showed a relationship between the degree of proteinuria in preeclamptic mothers and the incidence of LBW (p=0.005; CI=95%). This indicates that the higher the degree of proteinuria in preeclamptic mothers, the higher the incidence of LBW. We conclude there is a relationship between the degree of proteinuria in preeclamptic mothers and the incidence of LBW at RSU Karsa Husada Batu from January to December 2021.
